If you were with us in July/August, you know that FAB15 Egypt was a GREAT success and that Fab Lab Egypt, Fab Lab New Cairo, SAN3ATECH, and Giza Systems Education Foundation were terrific hosts! Above is a picture of the amazing FAB15 organizing team and volunteers.
We are so grateful to our core partners on the FAB15 Collectively Independent organizing team – especially Dina, Noor, May, Merhan, Joe, Omar(s), Mahmoud, Layla, Lara, Moustafa, Hesham, Francisco, Luciano, Jean-Luc, Norella, Anastasia, Fiore and the fantastic, too-many-to-be-named-here, supporting fabbers from across Egypt and around the world – for the extraordinary production of FAB15. It was beautiful, it was from the heart, it came from the community, and it was so meaningful and so relevant. “Thank you, thank you. شكرا Shukraan Egypt!”
Emerging from the week of working groups and workshops was forward momentum on active programs and collaborations for fablabs.io, Fab City, SCOPES-DF, Academany (Fabricademy and Fab Academy), Fab Foundation Forum and many more! And the conference workshops as well as our guest speakers were FABulous.
Please put FAB16 #FAB16Canada on your calendars, currently scheduled for the last week in July, 2020. Stay tuned for future updates from Montreal. For information on past FABx Events please visit: http://fabevent.org/

|
|
Congratulations to Fab Lab Yucatán in Mexico, Fab Lab Pronto 3D in Brazil, Prac-Science Lab in Ghana, and BITlab at Bullis School in the United States for being the 2019 Chevron STEM Education Award winners!
This year we received 40 submissions from across the global network for the Chevron STEM Education Awards. The cash prizes ranged from $1,000 (3rd Place) to $5,000 (1st Place).
Chevron has partnered with the Fab Foundation since 2016 to celebrate educators using STEM and digital fabrication for student learning. There have been over 160 submissions for the STEM Awards to date, and historically Chevron has awarded $40,000 to educators who create lessons and activities for their students and share them with the Fab Foundation network worldwide.
You can view all of the winning lessons on the SCOPES Website Special Collection!
We’d also like to thank our expert group of international judges who reviewed submissions and helped to select the winners. Our judges included inaugural winners of the STEM award and several fabbers and educators: Cicely Day (Fab Lab WCCUSD), Roberto Delgado (TECSUP), Robert Garita (IbTECHar & QBIC Fab Lab), Bridget McKendry (Fab Lab Christchurch & Fabriko Ltd.), Cesar Garcia Saez (Makespace Madrid), Henry Sanchez (DIGITOYS) and Sue Williamson, EdD (STEM School Chattanooga).

FAB ACADEMY
We’re happy to announce that Applications to become a Host Node for Fab Academy 2020 are Now Open.
Fab Academy is an amazing course that requires big commitments from students and host sites alike. To be a Fab Academy Node is a special opportunity, and one that requires the the physical space and infrastructure to host the course, as well as an extraordinary instructor to teach the course. Fab Academy Nodes need well-trained people in order to offer Fab Academy, and this training comes from graduating from the program itself. In other words, to instruct Fab Academy you need to have taken Fab Academy.
If you think you have the space, the infrastructure, the guru talent and the desire, please register your Fab Academy Node by filling this out this FORM. We hope you can join us for this next Fab Academy cycle!
