Reboot: Free
Last Thursday and Friday the Reboot conference took place in Copenhagen Denmark. A conference attended by around 600 people from all over the world, presenting interesting stuff to eachother. This year the theme was Free, as in free minds, free information, free food, free ideas, free music, free beer (as in the recipe is free). Every single presentation was very inspiring, for example the presentation by Rafi Haladijan, the creator of the nabaztag. The nabaztag is a rabbit that can communicate over the internet and interact with people, read out sms-messages, twitter messages, communicate with other nabaztags, and even marry another one at a remote distance. His goal is to connect everything in the world, starting with the rabbits. Or the presentation by Ianus Keller on hardware as (free) service.
It was my very first time attending the Reboot conference, but already I gave a small presentation on the FabLab. The people who attended were very inspiring, for example Martin Bauer who ran out of businesscards just before the event, so he created a “businessring” with his contactdetails, engraved and cut out with a lasercutter.
Friday afternoon a workshop was presented on the Arduino, a small open source hardware platform that can be programmed very easily. The platform can be used to read out sensors, control output, read RFID tags, communicate with other Arduino boards, it has endless possibilities. Definetely a good idea to organize an Arduino workshop in the FabLab!
