The venerable IEEE Computer *) contains several articles about the future of making, worth reading imho.

This special issue is free for the downloading for the time being (at some point in the future, it will be replaced with a newer issue).

*) Rinze Winsemius still keeps a hard copy of the March 2001 issue of the Communications of the ACM – as is was known then – with the theme ‘The Next 1000 Years’. Vol 44 nr 3. Still readable stuff, though some topics look naive now.
