Rule of 10P: you need ten people to start a fablab

At the FAB9 conference in Yokahama Japan Bart Bakker stipulated the condition for success of starting a fablab as the ‘Rule of 10P : ‘Get a core of 4 people and expand to 10,  machines and budget are secondary to that’.

A fine example is FabLab Alkmaar.

After having applied the Rule of 10P, they procured €10k euro from Rabobank Alkmaar and €50k from the Municipality.
Fablab is all about community, go for the Rule of 10P.
