Watermark by Ultimaker

ventje

Today dutch paperfactory Coldenhove had an open day today. Family-owned Coldenhove produces paper since 1661. Rembrandt might have used it. Made by hand then, nowadays huge machines produce elite quality paper.

Kids could, assisted by Peter Uithoven of FabLab Amersfoort, design their own watermark with Doodle3D. The mark was printed with an Ultimaker and then on the spot embossed in a handmade sheet of paper. In the way it was done at Rembrandts time.

For them to take home.

Papermaking is an art.

And everybody could visit the plant in full operation.

A nice detail: Dirk van Vreeswijk, manager product development of Coldenhove, instigated the first dutch fablabs at El Hema in 2007 and was on the Board of FabLab Benelux till Bart Bakker took over.
